Why use the Client Portal
Clients expect to be kept in the loop without having to chase their builder for updates. The Client Portal gives your client a single place to see what's happening on site, review shared materials, and track build progress, all controlled by you. Nothing is visible to a client unless you choose to share it.
How to invite a client
Step 1 — Client Portal
Navigate to Settings in your main BuildPass navigation and select Client Portal. This page lists all clients across your projects.
Step 2 — Add the client
Click Invite client. Enter the client's email address and (optionally) their name.
Step 3 — Send the invite
Click Send invite. The client will receive an email invitation with a secure link to access their portal. Invite links expire after 14 days. If the client doesn't accept in time, you can resend the invite from the Client Portal management page.
Step 4 — Confirm the client is active
Once the client has accepted the invite and set up their account, their status will show as Active in the client list. Until then, their status will show as Invited.
How to manage client access
From Client Portal > Select the three dots, you can:
Update project access — assign or remove which projects a client can see. A single client can have access to multiple projects.
Resend an invite — if the client's invite link has expired or was missed.
Revoke access — remove a client's access to a project at any time. Their account is not deleted; access is simply removed.
How to share content with a client
Clients only see content that has been explicitly shared with them. The sections available in their portal depend on which modules are enabled on your BuildPass account:
Updates — These can be composed within the client portal page under the "updates" tab. Here you can share resources and provide an updated description.
Documents — Project files shared with the client. Only documents marked as 'client' appear in the client's view.
Navigate to Documents > Project Documents > select the three dots > Select share with client
Individual documents or entire folders can be shared.
Drawings — Plans and revisions shared for the project.
Navigate to Drawings > select the drawing you would like to share > Select the share button > Select share with client
Both individual drawings and drawing folders can be shared
Reports — Completed forms and checklists can be shared with the client.
Navigate to Forms > Select all forms> Select the form > Select share with client
Photos — Uploaded project photos can be shared with clients.
Navigate to Photos > Select the photo folder or photo > Select share with client
Share photo folders and individual photos
Site Diary — Site diary entries can be shared with clients
Navigate to Site Diary > Select the Site Diary > Select share with client
Individual and multiple site diaries can be shared
Schedule — The project build schedule, if shared.
Navigate to Scheduling > Select the schedule > Select share with client
You will only need to share the schedule once with the client, and the client will always see the current published state when they log in to the client portal.
