Using Photo stamps, comments, date filters and location filters in BuildPass

Written by Andrei Mallen

BuildPass Photos has been updated with four improvements: photo stamps, photo comments, date range filters, and location filtering. This article explains what each feature does and how to use them.

Photo stamps

Photos can now be downloaded with a stamp overlay that includes key details about the photo. Stamps are available on both single photo downloads and zip downloads (multiple photo downloads).

The stamp can include any combination of:

  • Project name — the project the photo was uploaded to

  • Uploader — the name of the person who uploaded the photo

  • Date taken — the date the photo was captured

  • GPS location — included automatically if the photo had GPS metadata at the time of upload

Available in both zip download (multiple photo downloads) and single download.

Photos PDF download

To enable photo stamps:

  1. Go to Settings > More settings on the left hand side menu.

  2. Scroll the menu at the top to the right and click on the Photos tab.

  3. Toggle on Photo stamps.

  4. Select which fields you want included on the stamp.

Once enabled, stamps will appear on all downloaded photos automatically.

Photo comments

You can now add comments directly to individual photos in BuildPass. This makes it easier for teams to collaborate, ask questions, and leave notes against specific photos without needing to communicate outside the platform.

To comment on a photo, open the photo and use the Comments button on the upper right-hand side.

Note: To notify someone of a comment, you will need to tag them directly in the comment. There is currently no option to subscribe to a photo thread — tagging is the only way to trigger a notification.

Date range filter

A date range filter has been added to the Photos gallery. This allows you to jump directly to photos from a specific time period without needing to scroll through the full library.

To use it, on the Photos page, click on Filters at the top and select the Date range filter and choose your start and end dates.

Location filter

The location filter in Photos now also returns photos uploaded through worker form submissions — previously, attachments from forms were not included in location filter results.

To use it, on the Photos page, click on Filters at the top and select the Location filter and choose your location/s.

Things to know:

  • This improvement only applies to newly uploaded photos — older uploads will not be retroactively tagged with a location.

  • For the location to be captured, the worker must explicitly select a location when uploading the photo.
