Selecting Assignees for Actions and Defects

Ensure Actions and Defects appear in the right place by understanding how assignees work in BuildPass.

Written by Joanna Zervakis

When assigning Actions or Defects, the assignee type determines who gets notified and whether the item appears in the Worker App. Incorrect assignment is the most common reason items don't show up where expected.

Actions and Defects can be assigned to a company, a BuildPass admin, or a worker. Each behaves differently.

How Each Assignee Type Receives Notifications

🏒 Assigned to a Company

If an Action or Defect is assigned to a Company, the company will receive an email notification. However, individual Workers within that company won't see the item in the Worker App unless it's also assigned directly to their specific worker profile.

πŸ‘€ Assigned to a BuildPass Admin

If an Action or Defect is assigned to an admin profile, the user will receive an email notification, but it won't appear in their Worker App unless it is also assigned to their worker profile.

🦺 Assigned to a Worker

Once assigned to a worker profile, the worker will receive a text (SMS) notification, and the item will appear in their Worker App.

In-App Admin Notifications (Bell Icon)

Admins can also access notifications via the notification bell icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Clicking it opens the notification panel where you can review the list of notifications.

By clicking on a notification, you will be redirected to the relevant page to update the Action or Defect. The system automatically determines the most suitable page for you to make changes.
