Step 1: Enable the Defects Module
Log in to your BuildPass account.
Scroll down to the left-hand side of the screen.
Locate the "Defects" section under Quality Assurance.
If you see the "Defects" option, it means the Defects module is already enabled for your account.
If the "Defects" option is not visible, check if your user role includes permissions for Defect management. If you still can't access it, contact a member of the BuildPass team by clicking on the black chat icon in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 2: Accessing the Defects Module
Once the Defects module is enabled, click on "Defects" on the left-hand side menu. Alternatively, if you're using a mobile device:
Ensure you have the BuildPass Admin app installed on your smartphone.
Open the app, click on the 3 bars on the top left and select your project, scroll down and click on Defects under Quality assurance.
Note that you must have the necessary permissions to add Defects through the app.
Step 3: Creating a New Defect
Inside the Defects module, click on the "New Defect" button.
Provide a title for the defect that summarises the issue. For example, "Defective Brickwork."
Add a description of the defect. For instance, "Fix the crack in the brickwork."
Step 4: Setting Defect Details
Specify the type of the defect (e.g. Builder defect, Client defect, etc).
Specify the status of the defect (e.g. To do, In progress, etc).
Specify the location of the defect if you have predefined locations set up in your project. If not, you can add locations in the project settings.
Set the priority level for the defect (e.g., critical, major, minor).
Choose a due date for resolving the defect.
Assign the defect to the appropriate person or company responsible for fixing it. Select the assignee from the available options.
Step 5: Attaching Files
If you have any files related to the defect (e.g., images, documents), click on the "Attach Files" option.
Locate the file on your computer and upload it to BuildPass.
Step 6: Editing Images (Optional)
If the defect requires clarification through images, click on the pen icon to edit the image.
Use the available tools to draw on the image, add arrows, or highlight specific areas.
You can also overlay text or comments to further describe the defect.
Once you are done editing the image, save it.
Step 7: Saving the Defect
After providing all the necessary details and attachments, click on the "Save & Finish" button.
Step 8: Sending the Defect
To send the defect, select the desired defects from the list.
Click on the "Send" button.
Creating defects in BuildPass is a straightforward process that helps streamline construction project management.
