Tags let you group companies and workers by any characteristic you define, such as trade type, division, project role, and so on. Once tagged, you can filter your lists and bulk-send communications (drawings, defects or actions) to everyone in a group at once.
Tagging Companies
Navigate to the Companies module.
Next to the company name, select the tag icon on the company image.
A tag panel will appear. Type the name of your tag (e.g., Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry) and press Enter to create it.
The tag is now applied to that company.
Repeat this for any other companies you'd like to tag.
Tagging Workers
The same process applies to workers.
Navigate to the Workers module.
Select the tag icon next to the worker's name.
Type a tag name and press Enter to create and apply it.
You can use tags to define a worker's trade, specialisation, or any other grouping that's useful to you.
Tagging Projects
You can also apply tags to your projects to add context and make large project lists easier to navigate.
Navigate to Settings > Projects.
Select the tag icon next to the project name.
Type a tag name and press Enter to create and apply it.
For example, if you manage both factory builds and school builds, you can tag each project accordingly to keep things clearly organised.
Filtering by Tag
Once companies, workers, or projects are tagged, you can filter your list to display only those with a specific tag:
Select Filter in the Companies, Workers, or Projects list.
Choose Tag as the filter type.
Select the tag you want to filter by.
Only entries matching that tag will be shown. This is particularly useful when managing a large number of projects or a long subcontractor list.
Sending to a Tagged Group
When creating or assigning a defect, action, drawing, you can send directly to a tagged group rather than selecting recipients individually.
Open the item you want to send (e.g., a drawing, defect, or action).
In the Recipients field, you'll see options: BuildPass Users, Companies, Workers, and Tags.
Select Tags, then choose the relevant tag.
All companies or workers with that tag will be included as recipients.
This is useful when, for example, you need to send a set of drawings only to your electrical subcontractors, or assign a defect to all workers of a particular trade.
Important: How Notifications Are Delivered
For companies tagged as recipients, communications are sent to the default email address on the company record. Sending to a project-level default contact is not currently supported when sending via tags.
For workers tagged as recipients, notifications are sent directly to the BuildPass app. Workers will receive in-app notifications for any defects, actions, drawings, or other items assigned to them through a tag, in line with standard worker assignment behaviour.
