How BuildPass Calculates Worker Hours

BuildPass tracks a worker’s hours using their sign-on and sign-off data, applying the rules below to ensure hours are recorded as accurately as possible.

1. Standard Time Calculation

  • Time worked is calculated as the difference between the sign-on time and the sign-off time.

2. Worker Has Not Signed Off Yet

  • If a worker has not signed off, BuildPass will display in the Site Diary the amount of time worked from when they signed on up to the current time.

  • To ensure the total hours are recorded correctly, make sure the worker is signed off once they finish work.

3. Missing or Excessive Sign-On Time

  • If BuildPass detects that:

    • a worker has been signed on for more than 24 hours, or

    • no sign-off time has been entered,
BuildPass will use the site’s working hours to estimate when the worker likely finished for the day.

4. No Site Timings Available

  • If no site working hours are set, BuildPass will assume the worker worked no more than 7.6 hours.

  • This helps prevent over-reporting in cases where a worker forgets to sign off or accidentally signs off on the wrong day.
