Overview

The Drill-Down Select block is a new form component in BuildPass designed to capture structured risk assessments, such as Hazard → Scenario → Controls, in a clear and auditable way.

It allows workers to progressively select options through multiple levels, ensuring risks are fully assessed and controls are properly documented. The completed data is displayed clearly in BuildPass and renders reliably in PDFs and exports.

Availability

  • ✅ Admin web

  • ✅ Public web form completion

  • ❌ Mobile apps (coming in a later release)

What problem does this solve?

Previously, capturing structured risk assessments in forms made it difficult to:

  • Enforce end-to-end risk selection

  • Reliably render responses in PDFs

  • Export usable, structured data for audits

The Drill-Down Select block solves this by providing a controlled, multi-level selection flow with PDF-safe rendering.

How the Drill-Down Select block works

  • Users select options through a tree of levels (up to six levels)

  • Each level can be single-select or multi-select

  • Selections can be required to reach the final level (e.g. controls)

  • Optional notes, actions, and attachments can be added

  • Custom “Other” items can be enabled at any level

Once completed, the block becomes read-only and can be collapsed or expanded for easier review.

Common use cases

  • Risk assessments (hazards, scenarios, controls)

  • Safety planning and site-specific risks

  • Structured compliance and audit records
