How to archive and restore a form template

Learn how to archive form templates you no longer need, and restore them when required.

Written by Andrei Mallen

Archiving a form template removes it from your active template list without permanently deleting it. This keeps your template library clean and easy to navigate, while preserving any historical forms that were submitted using that template.

Form templates can be archived when they're no longer in use — for example, if a process has changed, a template has been replaced, or it was created for a short-term project. Archiving is reversible, so you can restore a template at any time if you need it again.

How to archive a form template

Step 1 — Go to Forms > Templates on the left-hand side menu.

Step 2 — Find the template you want to archive. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the right-hand side of the template row.

Step 3 — Select Archive and the form template will be archived.

The template will no longer appear in your active template list. Any forms previously submitted using that template are unaffected — all historical data is preserved.

How to restore an archived form template

Step 1 — Go to Forms > Templates on the left-hand side menu.

Step 2 — Open the Filters menu at the top and turn on the "Show archived" option to include archived templates in the list.

Step 3 — Find the template you want to restore. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the template row and select Restore template.

The template will move back into your active templates list and can be used for new forms straight away.

Things to note

  • Archiving a template does not delete any forms that were already submitted using it.

  • Archived templates are hidden from the active list but all data is kept intact.

  • Only Admins with the Owner/Manager role can archive and restore form templates.
